On a long enough timeline every device will eventually require firmware updates to ensure optimal security. When updating your OpenWRT firmware it is important to first backup your customized settings to ensure you will not waste time re-entering them in one by one.
To download a backup of your router's custom configuration click the System tab and select Backup / Flash Firmware.
You can download a backup file of all custom OpenWRT settings by clicking the GENERATE ARCHIVE button.
If you updated the router firmware and your custom settings were overwritten revisit this menu and click the UPLOAD ARCHIVE button under the Restore menu. This will upload any customized settings files that were lost during the firmware upgrade. Select the backup zip file that was saved when selecting GENERATE ARCHIVE in the steps above.
